A GREAT DAY FOR NOSTALGIA
One of my very favorite old Geraldine Page movies is The Trip to Bountiful about an old woman who is driven to go back and visit the place where she grew up.
Father Bob Ray and I took Mr. Greg Burch of Saint Patrick Parish here in Louisville down to our home parish of Saint Theresa of Avila in Rhodelia where we grew up to see where his father and grandfather grew up in Mooleyville and visit the cemetery where many of his distant family are buried.
Father Ray and Mr. Burch are related to each other. Father Ray and I are related to each other. As Father Ray said, "The dating possibilities were pretty restricted back then!"

Father Bob Ray and Mr. Greg Burch
We stopped at Stull's Country Store in Andyville for a balogna sandwich and soup lunch before going to the cemetery.
In the middle of the "old cemetery" a cross stands to mark the location of the second log cabin church dedicated by Bishop Flaget. The first log church was located at Flint Island on the Ohio River a couple of miles away.
The drive into the "old cemetery." We came across a stone that went back to a man born in the 1790's. Many of Greg Burch's family are buried in the "old cemetery." We found many of his grand parents, great grand parents and great, great grandparents and various relatives.
Another view of the "old cemetery."
A view from the "old cemetery" looking across the road to the "new cemetery" where Father Bob Ray and I will be buried. I will be buried in front of the big white cross you can see in the distance, next to Father Felix Johnson, our childhood pastor, and Father Thomas Buren another priest from our parish. Father Ray will be buried with his family to the left of the big white cross. Our tombstones are already in place.
