YARD SALE FANS - How About Holding a Yard Sale for the Missions?

HELP ME RENOVATE THE KITCHEN
in the
DIOCESE OF KINGSTOWN PASTORAL CENTRE

Room, by room, I have been working for over a year to renovate the Pastoral Centre of the Diocese of Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. We are making progress slowly, but surely.

Once the Centre is remodeled, the retired professional volunteers that I hope to attract to help me with my ministry in the missions will have a comfortable, safe place to stay. We cannot start inviting them to donate their talents and skills until the Centre is mostly remodeled.

I have been leading priest retreats in several countries and several of my friends have helped me out, but I want to enlarge the circle of helpers.

I would like to invite as many of you as possible to hold a multi-family yard sales this spring and donate the proceeds to my "renovate the kitchen" project. You can start planning and collecting items now, especially those items that will be replaced by recent Christmas gifts.

If you, or you and your friends, are interested in speaking to me about your unique angle on a yard sale for this purpose. call me!

Because of the cost of shipping, import taxes and the time it takes to get there,
I cannot accept actual kitchen items - only monetary donations.

Proceeds can be sent to me in check form.

The sink finish is full of brown spider-like cracks. The hinges are rusting. Some of the handles and knobs are missing or broken. The wiring needs replacing.

A couple of the burners on the stove do not work. One has to "lite" the oven with a match with one's head almost in the oven. They could really use two ovens and some venting.

The step-down in the floor needs to be leveled and additional cabinet space needs to be added.

HERE IS WHAT WE HOPE TO DO
SOMETHING SIMPLE, CLEAN AND MORE WORKABLE

YES, BUT DO THEY HAVE ONE THAT CAN CHANGE THE SHEETS?

I Bought Myself A "Roomba" For Christmas
I hate vacuuming my condo, so I bought a robot "on sale" to do it for me. This little robot makes its way around the room, sucking up dirt, while I am doing something else, while I am sleeping or even when I have to be gone.

I can set it to start cleaning whenever it is convenient for me, not it! I can hear it now, rolling across the floor upstairs, as I am typing downstairs. It even goes back to its station for recharging, on its own, when it gets tired.
It's not perfect, of course, but it does a pretty good job - except in corners and when it comes to picking up large objects like shoes and socks!. It has to be emptied, of course, and that is the amazing thing - just how much stuff it does pick up.
I can't wait until they come out with one that cooks, washes the car, does laundry, cleans the toilet, folds clothes and changes the sheets.

Cars are built mostly by robots already. That was followed by self-driving cars. Maybe someone will come up with a self-burying casket. If so, it looks like I have a very bright future ahead of me.

SURPLUS MEDICAL EQUIPMENT TO THE ISLAND MISSIONS

AN AMAZING RESOURCE
RIGHT HERE IN LOUISVILLE

A GREAT VISIT - NEW POSSIBILITIES

Recently, I had the great opportunity to take my second tour of a facility right here in Louisville that rescues surplus medical supplies to send to countries of great need.

This time, I took two retired seminary classmates who have expressed interest in getting involved in my program for retired, priests, bishops and professional lay persons - CATHOLIC SECOND WIND GUILD. The tour was given by another friend from my Cathedral days who is a staff member at SUPPLIES OVER SEAS.

I am looking to assemble a 40 foot shipping container to send down to St. Vincent and the Grenadines in support of the local hospital, nursing home, girls home, two orphanages and mental institution.

Behold! They have a St. Vincent and the Grenadines flag - the green, yellow and blue one!

Staff member, Tim Tomes, from Cathedral of the Assumption Parish.
Former seminary classmate, Gary  Marvin from Epiphany Parish.

Paul Bluel, a great detail man,  has shown interest in being my contact person for this project, overseeing it from inception to completion.

We will be looking for help to sponsor the @$18,000 it will take to ship @$325,000 worth of free surplus medical equipment down to the islands. Those who are interested in helping can contact me.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
Just a few shots of the huge warehouse where surplus medical equipment is sorted and prepared for shipment by an army volunteers. They handle almost everything from rubber gloves to heart monitors, surgical instruments to hospital beds, blood pressure cuffs to wheel chairs.

All electronic medical equipment is repaired and tested, if necessary, and put in good working condition before it is sent out. Often enough, it is just a previous model in perfect working condition that has been replaced with a newer model.

It all comes from the many hospitals and health care facilities in this region of the country.

Without this organization, most of this equipment would be dumped into a landfill.
