Ghana, Africa
Where the Church is really Growing
My friends from the islands, Volunteer Fergal Redmond on the left and Bishop Gerard County C.S.Sp. on the right, are paying a visit to Bishop John Bonaventure Kwofie, C.S.Sp., of the Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi, in Ghana. They went over for the ordination of a priest that Bishop County mentored in Trinidad from his religious community - C.S.Sp.
The church is booming in parts of Africa. This diocese has
56 parishes, 6 missions, 142 priests, 1 deacon, 32 Brothers, 34 Sisters and 57 seminarians. (2015 statistics)
Maybe they will come home with a priest or two?

Bishop Kwofie was born in this small fishing village.

Bishop Kwofie
Bishop Kwofie with 150 of his priests, Sisters and Brothers at Saint Patrick Church in Half-Assini on "appreciation day." The Bishop said that many of them were working in difficult and unrewarding situations. He said in this regard it was imperative once a year to set aside a day to meet and interact with them and take stock and make the necessary amends. They were presented with prizes which included clothes, wall clocks, bags and vestments.
