Up From the Islands For a Well-Deserved and Needed Break
Give! Give! Give! That's All I Do In the Islands Is Give!
I Love It, But I Need a Few Days In Kentucky To Recuperate!
SUNDAY MORNING
After arriving about 1:00 am Sunday morning, we got up after a short night's sleep and attended the 9:30 am Mass at the Cathedral of the Assumption.
He met so many people he had met before, or who recognized him from this blog, that he was shaking hands and hugging people like a long lost Irish relative! He got a grand reception, even an applause at the end of Mass.
SUNDAY EVENING
Arriving at the home of Greg and Teri Burch in the Lake Forest area of Louisville on Sunday evening.
Teri and Greg invited us for a cook out and gin and tonics.
Their daughter Erin and grandson James stopped by to say "hello!"
There's nothing like salad, grilled steak, baked potato, asparagus, apple pie with ice cream and good friends!
MONDAY MORNING
shopping
Many things are hard to find in Saint Vincent so Fergal arrived with an empty suitcase to take needed things with him on his way back down. Some things he had already purchased and had delivered to my house to pick up when he got here. On Monday morning we went to:
DINE - THE RESTAURANT STORE
3 large soup pots on sale for the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen in SVG
STAPLES
Some needed and hard-to-find office supplies for Kingstown Diocese
TONINI'S CHURCH SUPPLY
A liturgical alb for a friend
TJ MAX
Some needed personal shirts
MONDAY EVENING
My friend, Tim Schoenbachler, invited us to his house for a second annual cook-out.
Tim is the designer of all the R C Diocese of Kingstown Pastoral Centre renovations in Saint Vincent, as well as the renovation of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Sandy Bay SVG. He has recently designed the renovation of Ligouri House in Georgetown SVG where we hope two Redemptorist priests and a Redemptorist Brother will live when they arrive to do ministry.
Tim has done design work for this blog and for many of my fund-raising Parish Missions, Priest Retreats and various other projects that support my work in the SVG missions.
Pre-Dinner Drinks and Hors D'Oeuvres
Checking Out His Colorful Garden
Small Talk After A Dinner of Fall-Off-The-Bone Barbecue Ribs, Cole Slaw and Baked Potatoes.
We Got Home As It Was Getting Dark
